Jon Griffin is a composer and song-writer based in Newhaven, East Sussex UK. He has a background in alternative post-rock bands and experimental folk music.

He is the composer of the music for the Netflix series Buddi, an animated series aimed at pre-school children which ‘emphasises emotional intelligence and feelings through the imaginative use of music and sound’. Jon was involved with the project from very early on and the music became integral to the development of the show.

“Jon Griffin was our composer on Buddi, writing and recording all the original songs for the Netflix Originals preschool show, including the theme song. Jon Griffin is incredible at understanding how to translate emotions into melodies and was instrumental in creating the emotionality we sought to have in our show. Jon was a fast worker (strong adherence to tight schedules) and brilliant at understanding the series director's feedback and addressing changes without additional guidance - excellent qualities when it comes to work on music for TV. One of the main comments we get on Buddi is about how beautiful the music is in the show. From lullaby tunes in the episode "Glowpods" to fun rhythms in the episode "Rocks" - Jon Griffin played and recorded a variety of instruments to best match the feel and emotional drive that the directors were looking for. I would highly recommend working with Jon as a music composer/writer in Film & TV as he is an absolute pleasure to work with and a real team player.”

The first season of Buddi was screened on Netflix in March 2020 and the second season in September 2020.

Jon is also the Songwriter, Singer and Guitarist in the experimental Folk band Twenty-One Crows and a joint Songwriter/Arranger and Guitarist in the psych/ghost Folk band Sairie.
